Cargo Ship Diverts Due To Sick Crew Member

The cargo ship ‘Federal Alster’ diverted to Bermuda due to a sick crew member. The ship arrived off the east end this evening [Aug 6] and was met by the pilot boat St David.

The sick crew member, understood to be the captain, was transferred to the pilot boat and transported to Ordnance Island where there was a waiting ambulance which took him to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Marshall Islands flagged ship is 199.77 metres long and 23.75 metres wide. The ship which had departed from Latvia, continued on its way to Panama.
