Library To Screen NASA Documentary On Aug 13
Director Rory Kennedy’s acclaimed documentary Above and Beyond: NASA’s Journey To Tomorrow will be screened at the Bermuda National Library on August 13.
Released theatrically in 2018 and shown on the Discovery Channel to mark the 60th anniversary of the US National Aeronautics & Space Administration, the film was described as “slick and engrossing” by the Los Angeles Times. The New York Times called the documentary “an informative chronicle” and “a heartening salute” to the American space programme.
Documentary director Ms Kennedy is perhaps best known for a series of well-received documentaries focussing on social issues such as addiction, nuclear radiation and the the politics of the Mexican border fence.
A number of her previous documentaries have been shown at both the Bermuda International Film Festival and in the Bermuda Docs film series.
Ms Kennedy is the youngest daughter of former US Attorney General and US Senator Robert Kennedy, assassinated while he was running for the Democratic Party Presidential nomination in 1968 and a niece of the late President John F. Kennedy.
The Above & Beyond screening, a joint presentation of the library and the Bermuda US Consul General, gets underway at 6 pm.
