A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Hotel Association supports initiatives which help to drive tourism and future visitors to Bermuda and as such, we are pleased to support Bermuda’s inaugural Pride parade as a sponsor.

“We hope that the event on August 31st is a success as it marks the beginning of a new annual tradition for Bermuda as an international travel destination for our visitors.”

Hey, guys, wake up. The Bermuda Government does not want this. We are appealing to the Privy Council to enshrine the right to discriminate against gay people into our law!

    Stop Press
Pride brings down the plp government of Bermuda with the help of the UK Privy Council.

    Question for the wise

Why do you think God made Adam a woman

    • OG says:

      Question for the unwise.

Why do you think god exists?

    • Joe Bloggs says:

      Which “God”? And Adam who?

    • Mike Hind says:

Your personal choice of religions is all yours. It should have zero negative effect on anyone else.

    • Not to be Rude says:

      Question:

Why should your religion effect some one who isn’t a follower??

      • sage says:

It shouldn’t but businesses are closed on sundays, christmas, easter, the requirement that a couple be married by law to get certain recognition, having to swear on a bible (you can refuse at your own peril) and a system of law with a big religious influence are ways religion affects everyone.

        • Question says:

Pagan holidays later taken over by religion.

        • Mike Hind says:

And yet, businesses are allowed to be open on Sundays and other public holidays, Marriage is legal contract and doesn’t HAVE to be religious at all, and people are absolutely allowed to swear on things other than the Bible, without any punishment or “peril”.

          So… yeah.

    • Question says:

      Answer: god is a myth.

  4. TGAOTU Supreme says:

We dont need a news article to announce everyone who supports the pride parade. Look, the tiny minority of about 3% got what they wanted, they managed to get an entire country, the other 97%, to bend to their demands, and the law got changed contrary to the religious values we were founded on and to this day firmly believe in and stand by. So, fine. They got what they wanted. So go have the parade and enjoy yourselves and feel your pride for your sexual orientation. As if that should ever logically be anything put on public display or announcement. Years ago the laws got changed which criminalized homosexuality. Now homosexuals have equal rights to heterosexuals, only differing in terms of legal marriage, which is by design and definition and history between male and female. So there is no need to feel oppressed or hated. Most straight people have homosexual friends nowadays, like I do. But stop trying to make the 97% bend to your whim, as we live in a democratic society and the majority is who decides, not a 3% margin. But these are the times…

    • PBanks says:

That was quite a mouthful to express your dislike of an organisation’s simple press release.

    • Toodle-oo says:

I give you full credit for correctly using the right term ‘Sexual orientation’.
Pity about the rest of it though .

    • Mike Hind says:

      None of this is true.

We absolutely DO need these articles. Representation matters.
“Tiny minority”… so what’s the cut off percentage where it’s ok with you to baselessly discriminate against someone? The number of folks that we needlessly hurt is irrelevant. It should be zero.
Religion is a personal choice and should have zero negative effect on anyone else, so this entire point is wrong.
The freedom to assemble is one of the most basic human rights. You are suggesting that the LGBT+ community doesn’t even have THAT? You are completely wrong.
Marriage Equality is the law of the land. “Legal marriage” includes LGBT+ folks.
You are wrong on this point, too.
Marriage’s “design” has changed many, many times through history. This point is irrelevant.

And posts like yours prove that folks are still hated. It’s just that the hate is wrapped in a nicer package of “I have gay friends”.

And a democratic society DID decide, through the Constitution. We all agreed that the Constitution is a pretty good set of rules and protections.
Your position goes against the Constitution (proof of this is the three lawsuits y’all lost).
Unless you’d like to remove the protections from the Constitution?

      Is that what you want?

      So, in closing… you’re wrong.

If your position is so strong, why do you have to resort to falsehoods to support it?

      • Dumb says:

Hey Mike go play your banjo and leave the rest to us! You are what’s wrong with this world – an advocate for the 3% who don’t matter and will never be accepted by nature itself!

        • Toodle-oo says:

You certainly have the perfect user name .. lol

        • Mike Hind says:

Why would I leave anything to someone who can’t even address a single point I made?

And being an advocate for folks being attacked by people as cowardly and dishonest and hateful as you is not “what’s wrong with this world”… it’s bigots like you that are.

Grow up and leave people alone.

          • Jevon Ray says:

You grow up, stop all that foolish talk about dishonesty and hate….you must be talking about Pettingail lying, and if you disagree with someone how does that equate to hate? You use these terms very loosely. When you disagree with something, do you refer to it as you hate it/them? We all need to meet up and have an open discussion in my opinion. Or would Hind refer to this as hate speech.

          • Dumb says:

I will leave people alone when you stop pushing your gay agenda on the majority of us who are straight and capable of continuing the species! Think about it if we did not exist you would not exist and have no one to play your little banjo to! Dummy!

            • Mike Hind says:

No one is pushing a “gay agenda”. They just want to be treated like everyone else.
It’s an agenda of tolerance and not wanting to be hurt by their Government for no reason.
What about that are you against?
How will Pride affect you in any way?

And what does “being able to continue the species” have to do with anything?
Wait… do you think that, if we accept LGBT+ folks and stop treating them like they’re less than human, that everyone will turn gay and not have kids any more?

Or do you think that gay folks can’t have kids?
Or is it that you think that couples HAVE to be able to have kids TOGETHER in order to be recognized as a couple?

Because none of that is true.

Treating people as equals won’t have any effect on the population… other than a probable decline in suicides brought on by hateful, bigoted positions like yours.

“If we did not exist you would not exist” has to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve read on this subject.

And it’s a ukulele. Not a banjo. If you’re going to try to make fun of what I play, at least get your facts straight…

Although, it’s appropriate… you’ve been wrong about everything else you wrote!

              • STFU says:

STFU Mike the banjo player! The person is right that gays cannot continue the species and so are counter to nature! Accept that and you will begin your journey back to where the majority of us are!

        • PBanks says:

I’m not sure which is more disturbing, the “don’t matter” bit or the bizarre “accepted by nature” thing.

    • Datbye says:

Well said, so many like BHA jumping on this band wagon for the money.

      • PBanks says:

Money? In the Butterfield Bank article some people were pledging to take their money out of the bank when they publicly supported Bermuda Pride. Pretty sure these companies aren’t getting on the ‘bandwagon’ to GET more money
