Football: Nahki Wells Returns To QPR On Loan
Bermuda’s Nahki Wells has rejoined Queens Park Rangers [QPR] on a season-long loan from Burnley.
The club’s announcement said, “The 29-year-old striker netted nine goals for the R’s in 2018/19 and he is delighted to return to W12.
“It’s great to be back,” he said. “I’m extremely excited to get my head down and play some football.
“I think everyone knows how much the club means to me and once the opportunity arose I was always going to come back. I went back to Burnley with the full intention of trying to get into the first team. That hasn’t transpired so I had to accept that.

“I am thankful the opportunity has presented itself to return. I feel I have some unfinished business and still have a lot to offer so I want to get my head down and focus.”
Wells, who scored six goals in 11 games towards the end of 2018 for Rangers, added, “They have only seen sparks of what I am capable of. They didn’t see it enough and now I have the opportunity to right those wrongs.”
“Despite it being familiar surroundings for Wells, he has a new gaffer to impress in the shape of Mark Warburton, and the Bermuda international said: “It’s a new manager with a different philosophy and a different approach. It’s something I am relishing and excited to be involved in.
“He wants to play football in a very exciting way and I think that will get the best out of the players here.”
Warburton said: “We are delighted to bring Nahki back to the club. He is known to the supporters and to his team-mates so that’s a huge plus for us. His qualities are there for all to see. He has experience within the division and he gives us that option now because we were light up top.
“We only had Jordan [Hugill] and Jan [Mlakar], and with injuries and the demands of the season we needed to have more attacking options. Nahki gives us that. We need competition for places all over the park and now we have that in place.”
QPR said that Wells will wear shirt number 21 and could make his ‘second debut” this weekend against his former club Huddersfield Town as QPR plays their first home game at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

The right to be proud
Good to see him at QPR again. It shows that he was appreciated and wanted. Hopefully he will have a few more opportunities and score many more this year.
