Tatsuhiro Sakamoto put Coventry ahead in the 27th minute, but Rob Dickie headed in an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Wells, who missed two months of the season due to an ankle injury, gave the visiting side the advantage before Ellis Simms found a late equaliser to salvage a point for Coventry.

“It’s been a while,” the Bermudian footballer said after the match. “90 minutes is something I didn’t necessarily expect but I know that I’m fit and capable to put in a shift like that.

“I’m delighted to get on the scoresheet of course. It’s been a while and the injury probably took a toll on me more than I first thought, but moments like this are what really matter. It would have been a lot better to get the winning goal but it’s a good shift and a day I can look to build form.”
