People Urged To Stop ‘Disgusting Behaviour’

August 8, 2019

After another incident in which waste collection staff had to deal with “human and animal waste” placed in residential garbage bags, Minister of Public Works Lt/Col David Burch has urged people ”who are engaging in this type of disgusting behaviour to stop.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Minister of Public Works has issued the following urgent reminder to residents regarding the contents of their trash. The Minister expressed his complete shock and disgust at the depositing of human waste in trash bags placed out for collection this past Tuesday.

Minister Burch said, “We are having increasing incidences where our waste collection staff are finding human and animal waste and other contraband placed in residential garbage bags. This most recent incident occurred at Cedar Hill, Warwick.

“I think the entire community will agree with me that this is not only absolutely unsanitary and abhorrent, but more importantly, it poses a significant health and safety risk to our workers. It’s amazing that we actually have to remind the public not to dispose of human and animal waste via the weekly garbage, but here we are.

“I am urging members of the public who are engaging in this type of disgusting behaviour to stop. Please have some respect for the hard working men and women of our Waste Management Section, who diligently do their jobs daily, often under thankless conditions, simply to ensure that our Island maintains its cleanliness and beauty,” the Minister added.

Minister Burch also advised that the disposal of paints and other hazardous waste items through residential collection is also a rising concern. All of these items can be disposed of – free of charge – at the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy Facility. For more information regarding residential waste collection, recycling or hazardous materials disposal, visit

We have not included the photos and video in this article and are linking to them instead so viewers can be forewarned, and while viewing here is optional, obviously it is not for the staff who have to deal with this very unfortunate situation, and to repeat the Minister’s comments, people are urged to stop this “disgusting behaviour” which poses a “health and safety risk to our workers.” You can view two images showing the waste having spilled out of a bag and onto the ground via a PDF here and a video which is unlisted on our Youtube channel here.

Common knowledge that Burch has never had to deal with a diaper and I doubt he has ever had to deal with an indoor cat—-What does he propose that people do with dirty diapers and kitty litter. Again—-no solutions or answers from Burch
