Softball League: Hitless, Flyers & Docksiders Win
After Hurricane Humberto did damage to the softball field two weeks ago, the postseason tournament resumed with a massive win by FIU Scared Hitless, as they hammered Raggamuffins 25-12.
Scared Hitless jumped out to a 9-2 lead after three but piled on eight runs in the fifth with Kendrick Richardson [3-5] smashing a three-run homer. Chris Pitcher put on a hitting clinic from the bottom of the order going 4-4 with three RBI while Marcellus Thomas [3-3] was also flawless at the plate. Kyle Ball led the team with four hits,
Raggamuffins struggled out of the gate, only scoring two runs in the first three innings. Dylan Desilva was a perfect 3-3 for the Raggamuffins, and teammate Dondre Outerbridge was 4-5.
Paraquet Flyers scored seven runs in the first on their way to a 13-10 triumph over Platano Power. Paraquet was clutch as they only had 11 hits in scoring their 13 runs. Josh Bang [2-4] drove in four runs to help lead Scared Hitless to the win. Greg McBride set the table from the leadoff spot by going 3-5. Plantano had 16 hits and were led by Willy Flores [4-5]. Leonardo Silveira and Wascar Alcantara also had hot bats in going 3-5.
Playoff champs’ Docksiders moored Hakuna Mata Charters 11-6. The top of the order got the job done for Docksiders with Shawn Furlong [3-4], Danny Cook [2-4], and Richard Madeiros [2-4] scorning five of the teams runs and picking up seven RBI.
Madeiros smacked two homers and Furling, and Gary Adams each had one. Hakuna scored two runs each in the first, third, and seventh with Terence Corday leading the way with two homers, three runs scored and four RBI. Catcher Kelly Damasio was 2-2 from the 10th spot in the order.
Two games a night are scheduled each night from Monday through Thursday starting at 7 pm at the Michael Preece Softball Diamond at Bernard Park.
