Mr. David Chew has been declared the winner for the seat of Municipal Residents’ Councillor for the Corporation of St. George’s.
A Government spokesperson said, “This morning the Parliamentary Registry Office announced that Mr. David Chew has been declared the winner for the extraordinary municipal election that was scheduled to take place today for the seat of Municipal Residents’ Councillor for the Corporation of St. George’s.”
Yesterday, the Parliamentary Registrar advised that one of the candidates, Mr. MacLaren Smith, withdrew his nomination for the extraordinary municipal election scheduled to take place today, leaving on “only one candidate, and therefore no need to have an election.”
The Parliamentary Registrar explained that the Returning Officers responsible for this election would declare a winner on the scheduled polling day in accordance with the Parliamentary Election Act 1978, as modified by the Municipalities [Election] Order 2011.
