Bermuda National & Open Championships Final
The 2019 Bermuda National and Open Championships concluded on the Great Sound and the Hamilton Harbour as one hundred and eighteen young sailors took to the waters for the final day of racing.
Christian Ebbin was crowned the Bermuda Optimist National & Open Championships Champion, as his strong performances in 2019 continued.
Ebbin led after the opening day that saw the sailors race four races, and another four races took place on Monday as Ebbin won the first three races of the day and then finished 6th. He finished with 11 Net Points, 10 points ahead of the second place finisher Freddie Parkin who had 21 Net Points, while Tyler Lamm was third with 30 Net Points.
Nicole Stovell was the Female Champion after finishing 14th overall with 87 Net Points, the second female finisher was Laura Hupman who was 16th overall with 96 Net Points, and the third female finisher was Bella Shakespeare from the USA who was 19th overall with 116 Net Points.
The Green Fleet was won by Oliver Soares with 17 Net Points, but he finished with the same Net Points as Cody Rans. Soares in the four races on the day on the Hamilton Harbour had finishes of 2nd, 8th, 3rd and 7th, while Rans won the first two races of the day, he then finished 4th and 16th. Shiloh Cruickshank finished third in the Division with 21 Net Points.
Arabella Parker was the top female finisher in the Green Fleet with 65 Net Points finishing 7th overall. Kenya Gannon-Trott was the second female finisher and 11th overall with 84 Net Points and the third female finisher was 12th overall Madeleine Doyle with 88 Net Points.
