Hurricane Damage Repair Work In Dockyard
Work has started to repair damage sustained in Hurricane Humberto to the roof of the Great Northern Storehouse, which makes up a portion of the Clocktower Mall in the Royal Naval Dockyard.
“The roof requires a complete replacement and the project is expected to be completed at the end of March,” a WEDCO spokesperson said.
“The public should be advised that the North Lawn side of the Mall will be closed until the project is complete to allow the work to be carried out safely.
“The only businesses affected by these repairs are: Davison’s of Bermuda, Calypso, A.S. Coopers, The Perfume Shop and Crisson’s Jewellers. All other businesses in the Clocktower Mall remain open daily as scheduled throughout this period.”
“After Hurricane Humberto, we went through a period of damage assessment, followed by insurance submissions and we have now received the insurance approval to replace the roof on the Great Northern Storehouse,” said Joanna Cranfield, WEDCO’s Business Development Manager.
“We are very pleased with the timing of this approval as we are able to plan the works and have them completed by the time the cruise ship season starts.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to the public, but we want to stress that the Clocktower Mall will be open for business as normal with the exception of the five stores located in the Great Northern Storehouse.
“The rest of Dockyard is on their normal schedules of operation as well.”
Somebody should check the strap holding the Americas Cup boat, at least one was broken the last time I was in Dockyard.
Who cares? That was years ago. Move on!
Timeline will be very important to avoid more damage as will be insurance.
