Argus Donate $10,000 In Gift Cards To WRC

March 31, 2020

The Argus Group donated $10,000 of MarketPlace gift cards to the Women’s Resource Centre, with an aim to support families experiencing economic difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alison Hill, CEO of The Argus Group, said: “Argus recognises that in times of financial crisis, the immediate needs of families are for food. In keeping with our commitment to the health of Bermuda, we have made a donation of $10,000 worth of grocery gift cards to ensure children and families are supported at this difficult time. We commend the Women’s Resource Centre and other charities for the work they are doing to assist Bermuda during this period.”

“In addition to supporting the needs of the community, it is important to Argus that we also support our clients. We are cognisant that these are challenging times and Argus is committed to providing access to quality healthcare. With the understanding that our clients have unique needs, we remain flexible during this time and are working with clients to address their specific financial circumstances.”

Elaine Butterfield, Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Centre, said: “On behalf of the Women’s Resource Centre and our many clients who will benefit from this generous donation, we are sincerely grateful to Argus for their support.

“88% of single-family households are headed by women and we have been inundated with requests for support. We are receiving up to 60 calls per day, which evidences the extent of the need. Argus’ donation goes a long way to ensuring children are fed even as parents have lost employment or negotiate the difficulties of working from home.”

The Women’s Resource Centre held its first distribution on Tuesday, March 31st and will be taking applications for grocery vouchers over the telephone on 295-3882 or via email at wrc@wrcbermuda.com for future distribution dates.

Argus continues to update policy and coverage information on their dedicated COVID-19 webpage here.
