Lindo’s: 50 Shoppers In The Store At A Time
Lindo’s stores will be open 7am until 7pm Monday-Saturday and will be allowing only 50 shoppers into the store at a time, operating a ‘one in, one out’ policy, the company announced today.
A spokesperson said, “Now that there have been confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bermuda, we are stepping up some of our policies and protections for team members and customers and we wanted to take the time to share these with you.
“Going forward, Lindo’s stores will be open 7am until 7pm Monday-Saturday and will be allowing only 50 shoppers into the store at a time, operating a ‘one in, one out’ policy. We ask that our customers move as quickly and efficiently through the store, showing compassion for other members of the public waiting to get in.
“We will be working with local security company, Bermuda Security Agency, to enforce these restrictions. While queuing and in the store, customers are asked to maintain a distance of at least one metre from each other in order to comply with social distancing measures.
“For customers over the age of 65, who are considered more at risk for infection, we will be holding special shopping hours from 7am until 9am Tuesdays and Fridays. The usual five per cent discount will be honoured during the senior hours on Friday and as per usual all-day Tuesday.
“Customers will need to present a valid ID that shows their date of birth at the door and we ask that younger customers respect this time designated for our seniors and shop outside of these four hours. The 50-customer restriction will still be in place.
“Our team members have been issued gloves and face masks to be used at their discretion in addition to the hand sanitiser bottles and wipes they have already been issued. Cleaning procedures, outlined yesterday, have been stepped up.
“We strongly encourage members of the public to exercise compassion and restraint in this challenging time. We also urge you to consider shopping online with DropIt.bm.
“We thank you all for your loyal and continuing custom. We will continue to update you on developments as they happen.”

9:00AM!!! Some seniors don’t even get out of bed before 9:00AM. They are retired. What do they need to be up so early for? They are on teenage weekend hours everyday of the week.
I am sure the elderly and retired will adjust their sleeping schedule if they need groceries, after all they can sleep anytime sine they are retired, and I’m sure they are grateful Lindos is trying to accommodate them.
Is that 50 Shoppers plus the employees or the employees and the amount to make up to 50 persons.
We find the time to do things that are important to us.
I want to thank Lindo’s and the other food establishments for implementing this, it is very necessary. What I find ironic is the negative attitudes of individuals. If we want or need something we find a way to get it. Maybe if we stop speaking negative rhetoric and do our part for ourselves and others we can combat what is being asked and needed at this time. This situation that our island is experiencing does not just effect a few but the entire population so let’s all work together.
How will the queues outside be managed? Good idea though, hopefully tied in with additional in-store cleaning.
