BF&M Donates $40,000 To Assist Community
BF&M Limited is pledging $40,000 to organisations to help the community support efforts in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
A spokesperson said, “BF&M Limited announced today its community support efforts in response to the Covid-19 crisis, pledging $40,000 to organisations currently working doubly hard.
“In Bermuda, BF&M has pledged $10,000 to support a joint corporate/hospital initiative to bring in urgent personal protective equipment for community frontline carers as quickly as possible. The Company is further donating $10,000 to The Coalition of Protection of Children, which estimates needing to service more than double the number of families and children in need. As well as helping to replenish food supplies in the Coalition storehouse, the funds will go towards providing medications, laundry supplies, and personal hygiene supplies.
“In Cayman, BF&M’s sister company Island Heritage has pledged $10,000 to Meals on Wheels [Cayman], which is seeing a rapidly growing waiting list of vulnerable people needing meals. In addition, the amount of $10,000 is being donated to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, which provides safe temporary shelter for women and their children suffering from domestic and sexual abuse. Unfortunately, the lockdown has led to an increase in requests to shelter at-risk people.
Group Chairman and CEO John Wight explains: “At a time that is stressful in so many ways for so many people, we are thinking about those who need extra help. Our customers depend on us to be there for them when they need us; we also believe we must support our communities at times of crisis, when we can.”
“In addition, over the past few days BF&M has committed support for Tomorrow’s Voices [assisting families living with autism] by covering expenses for virtual platforms, so the centre can stay in touch with individual ASD families during the Covid-19 crisis as well as provide training and support through webinars to the broader ASD community. BF&M has also supported Project Action to get two vans on the road to assist seniors. And BF&M has covered insurance for a Salvation Army vehicle to help ministry on the streets.”
