Residents Urged Not To ‘Suffer In Silence’
Premier David Burt urged Bermuda residents to not “suffer in silence” if they are having difficulty while waiting for the unemployment benefit, reminding them to reach out to the Government’s hotline for assistance.
Speaking at last night’s [April 20] press briefing, Premier Burt said, “I have heard the stories of persons who may be waiting to get the unemployment benefit. If you are hungry, please do not suffer in silence.
“If you are someone who does not qualify for that benefit and you are having difficulty during this time, please do not suffer in silence.
“Reach out to the hotline on 444-2498. There are many organisations who have stepped up to help the less fortunate and the last thing we want to do for Bermuda is for persons to be at home, and are hungry.
“There is assistance that is available outside of this unemployment benefit, and we want to ensure that persons who are at home who may not have access to food or essentials can get access to food or essentials.
“It is there; please do not suffer at home in silence.“

I hear the premier saying no Bermudian is left out but what about the fact there are many people that could not get a job or did not have one before the coronavirus these people are not getting help even though they were haveing trouble paying bills already .the food help is good but there is a lot of people that are still not getting help
Very true . People long getting by on small hustles with either no pension yet , or the minimum pension , who are considered unemployed and not paying payroll tax are screwed. And there’s a lot of them.
