Aspen Commits $75,000 To WindReach

June 1, 2020

WindReach today [June 1] announced the receipt of a significant multi-year donation from Aspen Insurance.

A spokesperson said, “WindReach, the charity which seeks to enrich the quality of life for individuals living with special needs, today announced the receipt of a significant multi-year donation from Aspen Insurance.

“The donation of $25,000 for 2020 was received in May, along with a commitment to provide the same funding for the next two years. This donation builds on Aspen’s long-standing commitment of investing in the health and wellbeing of the people in the communities they serve.”

Commenting on the donation, Board Chair Stewart Ritchie said: “This significant and generous donation has come during a time when Bermuda’s Third Sector is seeking to ensure that vital community support services, such as those that WindReach offers are available when restrictions are eased and it is safe and responsible to resume programming. The commitment for future years is tremendous. It allows us to plan with greater certainty over our cash flows.”

Adam Barboza of Aspen stated, “One of Aspen’s core principles and values is doing good by doing well. By supporting our third sector partners — we assist in building better communities together. WindReach exemplifies the type of community investment Aspen Bermuda Limited aspires to partner with to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people on our beautiful Island. Their work with people of all abilities is inspirational and Aspen is proud to continue to be a part of those programs”.

Tammalita Joseph, Fund Development Manager at WindReach said, “Prior to COVID-19, WindReach was providing services for approximately 200 individuals per week. We work with people of all ages and abilities. Participants include those with physical and intellectual disabilities as well as those living with mental health challenges and dementia.

“Aspen has been a keen supporter of our programmes and services for many years and we were delighted to receive news of their present and future year commitment. Not only have they supported us financially but the partnership will also involve staff engagement in our programmes on a voluntary basis. This type of support is invaluable as we strategically pivot our programme model to ensure proper physical distancing during our socially engaging sessions.

“For many of our participants socialization is a key benefit and helps to enrich their quality of life. We are thankful to Aspen and look forward to providing community service opportunities to their team when we ramp back up our programmes and activities.”
