“Expect To See Stepped Up Police Activity”
“You can expect to see stepped up police activity for the remainder of the holiday weekend,” Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley said.
Commissioner Corbishley said, “As Commissioner of Police, I strongly condemn the actions of those who, in the last twenty-four hours, have sought to disrupt the peace of this holiday weekend with acts of violence.
“The incident at John Smith’s Bay is particularly disturbing in light of the fact that so many people were gathered at that location and contravening Covid-19 regulations, thus possibly creating a public health risk.
“Not to mention the wanton acts of violence committed in full view of nearby residents, as well as families, including young children making the best of the sunny conditions on the day with a visit to that popular beach.
“Arrests have been made in connection with this matter and investigations are continuing. We are appealing for anyone who knows what happened to get in contact with us at the usual numbers, 211, 295-0011 or, the Crime Stoppers number 800-8477.
“With regard to the shooting incident in St. Georges, whilst I don’t want to go into too much detail, evidence recovered at the scene will no doubt assist the investigators as they seek to determine what happened.
“Thankfully the victims in these two incidents will fully recover from their injuries which are non-life-threatening. As we’ve previously stated, you can expect to see stepped up police activity for the remainder of the holiday weekend.
“Please understand this is not meant to be a hindrance, but rather to help you enjoy these two days as we celebrate Bermuda’s National heroes.
“Help us to help you by continuing to partner with us as we continue to make Bermuda safer.”
Going to be a long, hot summer
Little let for that
If this happened in the US you would be asked to resign as you speak of using a type of force.
Keep up the good work.
All lives matter. Young man shot in St.Georges, fights at Johns Smiths Bay, gunshots in Hamilton , now a knife killing in Waraick. All in one weekend. we need to march against all this crazy violence in our community.
