Two-Day Boot Camp For Incoming M1 Students
Children, Adolescent and Family Art Therapy Services, Bermuda [CAF BDA], a business operated by art psychotherapist Richelle Richards, has designed a program for students entering M1 from primary school, with the two-day boot camp intended to “support students through this transition both academically and emotionally.”
Ms. Richards said, “I have recently designed a program for students entering M1 from primary school.
“This program is intended to support students through this transition both academically and emotionally. The two-day boot camp will cover the importance of organization, being on time for school and classes, and making new friends. Students will also have a module on respecting teachers, peers, and themselves.
“This is an area of concern at this stage. It can be the cause of a lot of the trouble they get into; how you speak to people and carry yourself is important.
“Eight weekly check-in groups from September to November will help keep students on track for the first two months of school, ensuring they are calling on the skills learned in boot camp when they need them or if they need support from being overwhelmed.
“The deadline for registration is August 14th. Boot camp will be August 20 and August 21st.
“Middle school is a big step and I’m hopeful that the skills and support the students will receive will help make the transition a little easier.”
