There were 1,049 test results received and one was positive for Covid-19, with new case imported on Friday’s Delta flight from Atlanta.

A Government spokesperson said, “During the Cup Match holiday, between Thursday and today, there were 1,049 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and one was positive for Covid-19. The new case was imported on Friday’s Delta flight from Atlanta.

“Bermuda has 157 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • there are 5 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring, and
  • none are hospitalized or in critical care;
  • a total of 143 have recovered, and
  • the total deceased remains 9.

“The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 59 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.

“The source of all local cases is as follows:

  • 53 are Imported
  • 85 are Local transmission, with known contact
  • 19 are Local transmission with an unknown contact, and
  • none are under investigation

“Bermuda’s country status is “Sporadic Cases”. The seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is less than 1. Bermuda has now conducted 22,755 tests.

“Following an earlier release today, the Ministry of Health apologises for the delay with the results from yesterday’s testing at the Hamilton Cathedral. This was due to a delay in delivering the nasopharyngeal swabs to MDL for testing. Yesterday’s results are still being processed and will be released between 9pm and 2am.”

    For those of us passengers who boarded this jet for the return Delta flight to Atlanta, it would be most helpful to know the seat number of the individual who tested positive! Would the Ministry and Bernews please take steps to begin reporting this critical information? A happy Cup Match holiday to everyone!

    Stop flights going into Bermuda until it is safer. It is only subjecting our people to Covid. There had been no reported cases on the Island for awhile until flights started coming in. I think that SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!

  4. Success can be had says:

    I think the fact that from all the flights coming into the island there have been no local transmission or questionable ones and only those that have tested positive from the time they disembark into Bermuda have not infected others within the vicinity is showing us that we can still have our country open for business. As long as we stay vigilant and those coming in follow the rule, I believe we can show that our island is a success story on how to operate during uncertain times.
