Resumption Of U.S. Mail Services To Bermuda
The United States Postal Service will resume acceptance of mail to Bermuda starting tomorrow [Aug 21], the U.S. Consulate has announced.
A spokesperson said, “The United States Postal Service [USPS] will resume acceptance of mail to Bermuda and other international locations effective August 21, 2020.
“International mail services have been disrupted since March after a variety safety measures were put in place to minimize the spread of COVID-19, both locally and internationally. This includes the suspension of flights and reduced frequency of aircraft coming to the island.
“In addition to Bermuda, the USPS is resuming mail services to 14 other countries including Angola, Dominican Republic, Ivory Coast, French Polynesia, Rwanda, Cameroon, Gambia, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guyana, Uganda, Dominica, Haiti, and Zimbabwe.
“The following mail classes are available in the list of resumed services:- Priority Mail Express International [PMEI], Priority Mail International [PMI], First-Class Mail International [FCMI], First-Class Package International Service [FCPIS], International Priority Airmail [IPA], International Surface Air Lift [ISAL], and M-Bag items.
“The Postal Service is closely monitoring service impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to update customers until the situation returns to normal. Please visit the USPS International Service Alerts page for the most up to date information.”
“Thank you to the United States Postal Service, Delta Airlines, and everyone involved in assisting with the resumption of U.S. mail services to Bermuda. This has been a great inconvenience for many, and I am pleased to announce a solution,” U.S. Consul General Lee Rizzuto said.
Any update on mail from Canada? The Premier said early August but I’ve been waiting for mail sent in May but still nothing.
