Results: Johnnie Walker Classic 2020 Day Two
The Final Round of the Johnnie Walker Classic was completed at Ocean View Golf Course. After fairly benign conditions during the First Round which allowed for some low scoring, the southeasterly wind picked up to 15-20 knots during the Second Round which put the players to the test.
Mark Phillips was the overnight leader with a very impressive, 4-under par 66 in the 1st round and was four strokes clear of 2nd place, Scott Roy who shot an even-par 70. However, in the 2nd Round, the positions changed after Daniel Augustus carded a superb 5-under par 65 to become the 2020 Johnnie Walker Champion, while Mark Phillips had to settle for 2nd place after shooting an over-par round.
Not that it was required, but Augustus put the icing on the cake with a 30-foot putt for Birdie on #18.
In the Open Division, Eric West was the winner by two strokes over former Johnnie Walker Champion, Damian Palanyandi and Jarryd Dillas had to settle for third place.
In the Senior Division, Calvin Hendrickson showed fine form in the First Round with a 4-over par 74 to take the lead over the next two contenders, Millard Beach, and Craig Christensen, both of whom came in with scores of 78. In the Second Round, Hendrickson continued his form and despite bogeys on the large three holes, carded a 2-over par 72 to take the Senior Division over Kavon Trott.
Since the tournament was rejuvenated in 2017, the Johnnie Walker Classic continues to gain popularity both in the number of entrants and the quality of the field which gets stronger on each successive occasion.
