Kathy Simmons Will Serve As Acting Minister

October 16, 2020

Premier David Burt announced that the Attorney-General Kathy Simmons will serve as the acting Minister of Community Affairs and Sports.

“Minister Simmons will act until a substantive Minister is appointed, which will happen before the convening of Parliament,” the Government said.

This follows after the removal of Rolfe Commissiong from the Senate and Cabinet, which occurred on Saturday, October 10th. Mr Commissiong was initially appointed as a Senator, the Government Senate Leader and Minister of Community and Sports, so all those positions need to be filled – and the new Minister named must be a member of the Senate.

No diss to the AG but this shows the talent bench is shallow and Burt can’t find someone. He might as well just ask Foggo again since she showed up to every Culture event there was.

Why did Burt get rid of Foggo? she is so well liked and did a great job in her previous ministry.
