Tourism Summit 2020: Reset, Reimagine, Renew
This year’s Bermuda Tourism Summit will be staged as a physical event with virtual connections between two host venues in distinct locations of the island to “encourage industry engagement while meeting current health and safety protocols.”
A spokesperson said, “Hosted by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the 2020 edition, “Reset, Reimagine, Renew: Agility in Focus,” will be held Friday, October 16, 8:30 am–4:30 pm at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and Rosewood Bermuda simultaneously.
“Attendees will join industry peers and international experts for a full day of informative sessions exploring the impact and recovery from unprecedented global challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Stakeholders from across the hospitality sector are invited to register and attend the summit at the venue of their choice. While all physical presentations will be delivered at the Hamilton Princess, individual emcees at both locations will ensure a seamless virtual connection between audiences, speakers and discussion panels, facilitating the lively question-and-answer sessions participants have come to expect from the annual conference.
“Our team has worked hard to create an interactive event that aims to combine the best aspects of physical and virtual engagement,” said Glenn Jones, BTA Interim CEO.
“Bermuda’s successful management of the pandemic has allowed us to stage the summit physically, as we do every year—but by leveraging two locations, we can also responsibly meet health and safety protocols. Bringing our industry together to examine trends, plan strategies and share useful tools for recovery is even more important this year, and we look forward to welcoming stakeholders and guests.”
The BTA said, “Tourism economist Adam Sacks will return, virtually, this year as the day’s kickoff keynote, surveying US and global economies and resulting implications for the travel industry. At the other end of the day, destination and tourism expert Doug Lansky will speak on how the industry can best move forward, with smart strategies and new roles for technology, offering practical trips for brands and destinations.
“Other summit highlight sessions include:
- “Travel Sentiment & Visitor Feedback: timely insights into feelings and behaviours related to travel and how data can help gauge the pandemic’s changing impact on travel as it rebounds as a lifestyle priority
- “National Tourism Plan Reset: a deep dive into the six-year roadmap’s evolving priorities and tactics, underscoring its core theme of “Agility”
- “Inviting & Engaging Black Travellers: industry experts share perspectives on how to genuinely attract this important audience
- “Cruise & Air Panel: a look at the realities of air service and cruise industry recoveries and how to build long-term, sustainable strategies
