Ball Hockey: Spine And Sport & Appleby Win

The Bermuda Ball Hockey League season continued with  double header at the PCC Hockey Rink.

Spine And Sport 4 Outback 1

In the opener, Spine and Sport defeated the Outback 4 – 1.

Spine and Sport jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead at the end of the first period with goals off the sticks of Craig Macneil and Robbie Bailey.

Chris Coleman scored the only goal of the second period as Spine and Sport extended their lead to 3 – 0. Outback pulled a goal when Matthew Benson scored, but Spine and Sport restored their three-goal lead when Ronnie Dzurus scored to make it 4 – 1.

Frontier 2 Appleby 3

This game saw Appleby edge Frontier 3 – 2 in the nightcap.

Frontier took the lead in the first period when Jeremy Estey found the back of the net, Jeff Morash would equalize in the period for Appleby as they went to the break level at 1 – 1.

Neither team would score in the second period before Frontier would go back in front early in the third period with a Chris Grantier goal, but Robert Rego equalized for Appleby midway through the period.

Just when it appeared that a shootout would be needed to settle the match, Ross Rufiange scored the Appleby winner.
