Live Video & Updates: 2020 Throne Speech
[Updating] The Throne Speech and Convening of Parliament will take place this morning [Nov 6], with Governor John Rankin delivering the 2020 Throne Speech, which outlines the Government’s Legislative Agenda for the year ahead.
Today’s session will be a special sitting in St George’s in order to mark the 400th anniversary of the first General Assembly being established in Bermuda in 1620.
The proceedings are set to get underway later this morning and we will provide live video, text and photo updates as able, and post the full speech later today. The Order of Business for today’s proceedings is here [PDF].

Her Majesty the Queen sent congratulations to Bermuda, saying: “On the occasion of celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of the Bermuda Parliament, I have pleasure in sending my warm congratulations to the people of Bermuda.”
Premier David Burt previously noted that “ours is one of the oldest Legislatures in the Commonwealth, and in the Western Hemisphere second only to the Palace of Westminster in London.”
