Video: ‘Taking Off’ Highlights E-Gates In Arrivals
Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the new e-gates in arrivals.
Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “As we get closer to the opening of the new passenger terminal building, I’ll be sharing what to expect in the new space in a new ten-part series of Taking Off.
“In this sixth episode, we will be looking at the new e-gates in arrivals.
“At the existing terminal, passengers are processed in the Immigration Hall by immigration officers once they arrive before grabbing their bags and clearing customs.
“In the new passenger terminal building, passengers can use automated electronic clearing gates, also known as e-Gates
“One of these e-gates is currently being piloted in the existing terminal for Bermudians and permanent residents.
“They will be available for Bermudians, spouses and children of Bermudians and PRC holders in the new terminal as part of the Department of Immigration’s new border control system.
“The new system is in alignment with the government’s goal of investing in technology to streamline and improve the travel experience in Bermuda.
“So when you return to the island after travelling, you’ll be able to go through immigration seamlessly thanks to technology.”
