BELCO: ‘All Mainline Customers Are Back Online’
[Updated] As of 2pm today [Jan 30] approximately 90 customers remain without power due to the winter storm, BELCO has confirmed.
“BELCO crews are focusing on restoring branch lines as well as smaller outages. Areas of focus include St. George’s and Southampton with crews working from 8 am to midnight until all customers are restored,” the company said.
Spokeswoman for BELCO, Krista Barnes said: “We would ask customers who remain without power to please be patient as the island was impacted by sustained storm force winds for a long time with blustery winds continuing today. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to repair damaged infrastructure and restore power.”
BELCO said that further updates on restoration efforts will be provided later today.
Update: BELCO said, “As of 5pm, there are 29 customers without electricity. Crews have been working since 8am and will continue to work as long as it’s safe to do so, until all customers are back online.”
Update Jan 31, 9.20am: BELCO said, “All mainline customers are back online. We’d like to thank every one of our colleagues for their efforts to restore power as quickly and efficiently as possible. And, of course, we’d like to thank our customers for their patience and support.”
