Titan Express Offering Bermuda History Events

In recognition of the United Nations’ International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Titan Express and The African Bermudian Dispersion Cultural Tour will be offering a series of events in February and March.

A spokesperson said, “In recognition of the United Nations’ International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which is held every year on March 25, Titan Express and The African Bermudian Dispersion Cultural Tour is offering the a webinar, tour, and experience to honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the brutal slavery system.

“The International Day also aims to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today.

Titan Express Long Walk To Freedom Bermuda Jan 2021

“1. Thursday, February 4th at 7.30pm: A Long Walk to Freedom – free webinar, two-hour presentation.

“As Bermuda celebrated 400 Years of Parliament in 2020, in this presentation we will share how various laws and acts have been legislated over the centuries and have impacted Black people’s lives in Bermuda.

“We will share chronological information from the 1600s that document their arrival on the island, and how their lives continued to be affected by various laws and legislation into the 1700s to 1800s, including the process of Emancipation, and then into the 1900s with the periods of segregation and then integration.

“We will finish up with the journey towards Universal Adult Suffrage and the various voting laws and legislation that have been put into place and bringing all information into the present day.

Titan Express Sankofa Sundays Bermuda Jan 2021

2. “Sankofa Sundays held on February 7th, 14th, 21st from 2.30pm to 4.30pm; cost is $150 for all three weeks. This experience explores and engages African Bermudian cultural heritage for young people ages 8-16 years old with experienced and qualified educators.

  • “Freedom bus tour – Honoring Trailblazers in African Bermudian history on a bus tour. After the bus tour, we will engage in a brief meditation lead by Empowered Me Wellness. To prepare for a better future, we must know the stories of the past.
  • “Wild Plants n Herbs of Bermuda – We will explore and learn about plants and their benefits and will venture out into one of Bermuda’s beautiful landscapes and also share an historical story.
  • “Art by Alshante – In this experience, we will learn new art skills and take home one of kind crafts based on the historical stories we have learned.

Titan Express African Bermuda Dispersion Cultural Tour Jan 2021

“3. The African Bermuda Dispersion Cultural Tour will be held on Saturdays on February 27th, March 13th & 27th, and on Sundays on March 7th & 21st from 11.00am to 1.30pm; the cost is $40 for adults and $35 for seniors 65+ and children under 16. Cost includes all day entry pass into the museum.

“Join us in Dockyard for a Sankofa Journey of the African Diaspora history on a short bus tour and a visit of the diverse exhibits at the National Museum of Bermuda.
