Walkers & TLC To Host PIPA Webinar On Jan 26
Walkers Bermuda is encouraging medical professionals to attend their PIPA webinar on Tuesday [Jan 26], with the focus of the webinar to be on health and medicine.
A spokesperson said, “Walkers Bermuda will host its eighth webinar on the topic of the jurisdiction’s Personal Information Protection Act 2016 [PIPA] on Tuesday 26 January at 12.30 pm with a focus on health and medicine.
“The hour-long webinar coincides with Data Privacy Week [25-29 January 2021] and will be hosted in partnership with the TLC Group of Companies.
“Special guest Alexander White, Bermuda’s Privacy Commissioner, Walkers Bermuda’s regulatory expert Melanie Fullerton and Promila Gonsalves, Privacy Engineer & Advisor at the TLC Group, will take a detailed look at data privacy issues, addressing frequently asked questions on PIPA’s legal and regulatory implications for medical practices and professionals in Bermuda.”
Melanie Fullerton, Regulatory & Risk Advisory senior associate at Walkers, said, “The medical profession is often overlooked when it comes to data privacy and protection, when in fact research shows it’s one of the most vulnerable sectors.
“Joining forces with the TLC Group allows us to discuss both the legal implications, as well as the technical and practical aspects of protecting both personnel information and patient records; and of course, having the insight of the Privacy Commissioner allows for a more extensive and overarching analysis on the regulation of how personal information is retained and used.
“We encourage all persons in the medical industry to attend.”
The spokesperson said, “The PIPA webinar is free and open to the public. For more information and to register, please visit walkersglobal.com.”
