Advisory: Spam Emails With Fake BELCO Billing
BELCO today [Feb 25] issued an advisory that spam e-mails have been to their customers with fake BELCO billing information.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited [BELCO] today issued an advisory to customers that within the last 24 hours spam e-mails have been sent from One Communications to our customers with a fake BELCO billing information.
“Customers should not open the e-mail or click on any links or attachments. BELCO bills that are e-mailed to customers will be sent from ebilladmin@belco.bm whereas the spam e-mails are being sent from certain One Communications user emails.
“Please note that BELCO will never request passwords or personal information via email. If ever in doubt, please do not reply to the email in question. Instead, email info@belco.bm or call 295-5111 for assistance. BELCO is liaising with One Communications and the Bermuda Police Service in regard to this matter.”
