Ministry: ‘Covid-19 Exposure’ At Paget Primary

March 17, 2021

The Ministry confirmed they are “aware of Covid-19 exposure at Paget Primary School” and said the “assessment of this situation is ongoing and additional communication will be provided.”

This follows after similar notices were issued for Whitney Institute Middle School, Northlands Primary School and Dellwood Middle School over the past few days.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit [ESU] is aware of COVID-19 exposure at Paget Primary School. The person[s] confirmed with COVID-19 have been isolated.

“Additionally, the ESU is contacting confirmed close contacts, and those persons are being advised that they must quarantine [stay home from school and other activities] and get tested for COVID-19.

“The assessment of this situation is ongoing and additional communication will be provided, outlining further public health guidelines that must be followed, such as quarantine and testing.”

Minister of Education Diallo Rabain stated, “The Department of Health is still engaged in assessing this situation. We ask everyone who has children, family or friends associated with the school system to use caution and strictly adhere to the Government’s safety measures to help us contain this latest outbreak and reduce the transmission of COVID-19. We must all work together – wear your mask correctly; wash your hands regularly; and maintain physical distance.”

“We will update stakeholders and the community once we receive additional information from the Department of Health. Any questions concerning COVID‐19 should be emailed to schoolsurv@gov.bm. All public health guidelines are listed at https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus.”

  1. When the Government makes these announcements, it would be very helpful if they can report if the schools that are being affected, are students or staff, we are not asking to disclose personal details, but it’s helpful to inform the general public if this covid 19 has been found in students or staff.
