Government Confirm Two Covid Related Deaths

[Updated] The Government has confirmed the extremely sad news that “Bermuda has experienced two coronavirus related deaths over the weekend.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health today confirmed that Bermuda has experienced two coronavirus related deaths over the weekend. This brings the number of COVID-19 deaths in Bermuda to 14.”

The Minister of Health Kim Wilson stated, “I am deeply saddened to announce that two people passed away over the weekend after contracting COVID-19.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda,I extend sincere condolences to the individuals’ family and friends. The Ministry will not release personal details about the individuals and ask the public to respect the privacy of the families as they mourn their loved ones.”

Premier David Burt tweeted, “The thoughts and prayers of the Government are with both of the families as they mourn their loved ones.”

Update April 5, 1.35pm: Opposition Leader Cole Simons said, “On behalf of the One Bermuda Alliance, we offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the two people who died from Coronavirus over the weekend. The devastation of the pandemic is staggering. I encourage each of you to continue to strictly observe the prescribed safety protocols for your own safety, the safety of those within your bubble and the entire community. Please also consider taking the vaccination to mitigate any serious complications that may arise if you do contract the virus. If you have any questions, I encourage you to talk to your physician.”
