Trench Work, Lane Closure In Southampton

Due to trench work on Middle Road in Southampton there will be a one lane closure — that will mainly affect the eastbound lane — from May 31st, 2021 through to October 1st, 2021.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the motoring public that BELCO will be undergoing trench work on Middle Road in Southampton starting from the U.S. Naval Annex Substation at George’s Bay Road and the railway trail junction, down George’s Bay Road to Middle Road down Middle Road to connect to the Evans Bay Substation.

“The one lane closure will mainly affect the eastbound lane.

“The trench work is scheduled to commence Monday May 31st, 2021 through Friday October 1st, 2021. Working hours will be from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm daily.

“Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals & signage.

“The motoring public is advised to travel carefully through this trench work sections since there are no advisable detour routes available.

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.

“Should there be any questions regarding the BELCO trench works, please direct them to the attention of Mr. Jonathan Pedro, Project Manager for BELCO at 295-5111 ext. 1441.
