Bermuda Swimmers Win 10 Medals In Bahamas
Members of the Harbour Swim Club and the Sharks Swim Club recently began competing in the Bahamas National Swimming Championships in Nassau.
Day one saw the teams combine for a total of 10 medals on the day.
International swimmers at the Bahamas National meet swim in the B Division races and have their times recorded separately to the local swimmers no matter what times they swim.
During the 11-12 girls 50m backstroke preliminaries, Marleigh Howes finished first by clocking 34.14;vElanna Fulton finished fifth by clocking 35.35.
In the 13-14 girls 50m backstroke, Bella Howes clocked a time of 33.60, finishing fifth, while Tayla Horan finished sixth competing in the 15-17 girls 50m backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 34.49.
In the 13-14 girls 100m butterfly, Daria Desmond finished seventh with a time of 1:15.11, while Taylor White finished third in the 15-17 girls 100n butterfly with a time of 1:10.64. Brian Desmond finished fourth competing in the 15-17 boys 100m butterfly with a time of 1:01.87.
In the 11-12 girls 50m backstroke final, Fulton claimed the gold medal with a time of 33.64, with Marleigh Howes claiming the silver medal by clocking 33.89.
During the 13-14 girls 50m backstroke final, Bella Howes finished sixth with a time of 32.93, while Tayla Horan finished sixth in the 15-17 girls 50m backstroke final, clocking 34.03.
During the 13-14 girls 100m butterfly final, Daria Desmond finished eighth with a time of 1:15.02. Taylor White captured the bronze medal in the 15-17 girls 100m butterfly final with a time of 1:08.32, and Brian Desmond finished sixth in the 15-17 boys 100m butterfly final by clocking 1:00.89.
Sam Williamson won the boys 15 -17 200m breaststroke gold medal with a time of 2:25.40. Next to swim were the 11-12 girls in the 50m backstroke; Agathe Candillon finished fifth with a time of 34.82, Violet Smith was sixth with a time of 35.36, Arabella Newport Derbyshire was seventh with a time of 35.60, and Ava Pedro finished in eighth place with a time of 35.81.
In the 13-14 girls 50m backstroke Elena Pearman won the silver medal in a time of 32.07, while during the 15-17 girls backstroke Myeisha Sharrieff claimed a silver medal with a time of 31.53.
Jack Harvey won the 15-17 boys 50m backstroke gold medal in a time of 27.20, while a silver medal was won in the 11-12 girls Butterfly as Candillon finished second in a time of 1:14.73. Newport Derbyshire finished fourth with a time of 1:16.07, and Pedro finished fifth with a time of 1:16.83.
In the 13-14 boys 100m butterfly Brandon Adkins won the silver medal with a time of 1:01.06, while Caleb Ingham finished 10th competing in the 15-17 boys 100m butterfly with a time of 1:03.23.
To complete the evening’s swimming, the 11-12 Harbour Girls 4x50m Relay team of Pedro, Smith, Newport Derbyshire, and Candillon won the silver medal in a time of 2:04.30.
