BUEI Launches ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’

June 22, 2021

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute will be launching their ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ starting this Saturday.

A spokesperson said, “Starting this Saturday, June 26th, the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] launches ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ at 11am and 2pm respectively. The hour will feature the screening of a short film followed by a book reading for children ages 5-12 years.”

“The screenings and readings are a great opportunity for children to learn more about our oceans in a leisurely way that respects everyone’s time,” said Karla Lacey, BUEI CEO. “With our central location and free parking, it’ll be an hour well spent.”

“These ocean themed activities are free for members* and $2.50 per child for non-members, providing children and their parents or caregivers a fun and meaningful way to learn about the ocean.

“There is no fee for caregivers, and they must stay on site for the hour. During that time, the Oceans Gift Shop will also be open, giving an additional option for adults during the hour.

“The Oceans Gift Shop has expanded its merchandise offerings to include a new selection of Bermuda Designed and Made in Bermuda items,” said Ms Lacey. “Perusing the expanded range of items is worth a trip in itself!”

“The first film featured for Kids Hour Saturdays is The Whale Who Saved Me, an uplifting true story about what strange and wonderful things can happen when whales and people meet. Down Down Down: A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea, a book by Steve Jenkins will be read shortly after.

“Subsequent Kids Hour Saturdays will take place on Saturday July 24th and Saturday August 28th. As space is limited, advance registration is encouraged. To register your child for BUEI’s Kids Hour Saturdays, please call 294-0204. Payment is required at time of registration.”
