Hamilton Rotary Holds Welcoming Ceremony
The Hamilton Rotary Interact Club recently held a welcoming ceremony for new members at Shelly Bay Beach and presented leadership certificates to those who had completed a series of leadership seminars.
A spokesperson said, “The Hamilton Rotary Interact Club is already preparing to make a difference in the lives of youth in Bermuda and around the world. They recently held a welcoming ceremony for new members at Shelly Bay Beach and presented leadership certificates to those completing a series of leadership seminars coordinated by Adviser Kae Palacio.
“They held elections at the beach, enjoyed tasty hotdogs and hamburgers made by Chef Shannon Simmons, shared home made apple upside down cake, cookies and goodies on tables filled with delicious foods. They embraced all new members and had meaningful fellowship and dialogue in the sea and sun.
“The newly elected president of the Hamilton Rotary Interact Club is Emma Roberts, whose grandfather, Larry Roberts, and dad, Andrew Roberts, were past presidents of St. George’s Rotary Club.
“Rotarian Andrew Roberts will again take on the presidency of St. George’s Rotary as of the end of June 2021.
“Incoming President Emma has already organized a cleanup of Hen Island with her Rotary Youth and were recently accompanied by Rotarians and advisors from both Hamilton and St. George’s Rotary Clubs. Hen Island is a favorite of the Boy Scouts and Girlguides.
“Emma has been mentored by the past president of Interact, Sari Smith, who will be on the Board of Directors moving forward.
“The Rotary Interact Club will have eight new members in the fall and will meet at Lady Asser Hut, Girlguides Headquarters every other Thursday when school is in from 5 to 6 pm. The Youth Divisions of Hamilton Rotary Club and Girlguiding Bermuda have formed a partnership as they both build Leadership in youth.
“There are a few spaces left for youth membership in the Hamilton Rotary Interact Club.

“In addition, Girlguiding Bermuda invites interested adults to sign up to become leaders of Rainbows [5-7], Brownies [7-10], Girlguides [11-14] and Rangers [14 and older].”
