Atienza, Wilson, Roberts Earn Chubb Scholarships
The Chubb Charitable Foundation Bermuda announced this year’s scholarship recipients, with Zahra Wilson receiving the Robert Clements Scholarship, Owenea Roberts receiving the Bermuda College Education Award, and Asia Atienza receiving the bursary award.
A spokesperson said, “The Chubb Charitable Foundation-Bermuda is pleased to announce this year’s Robert Clements Scholarship, Bermuda College Education Award, and Bursary recipients.

Zahra Wilson receives Robert Clements Scholarship
“Zahra Wilson, a 2018 Berkeley Institute graduate, and current rising junior at the University of Tampa, has been selected as the 2021 Robert Clements Scholar in the award’s twenty-fifth year.
“At the University of Tampa, Zahra has been recognized for both her academic and athletic achievements. With a focus on International Business and Economics, Zahra has continuously been named to the Dean’s List and maintained a consistent 4.0 GPA. Zahra is an Executive Board member of her university’s “Sustained Dialogue” association, which has led her to become a certified moderator and has allowed her to moderate various dialogues at university. She completed a Rotary exchange year in Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese as a result of her time abroad.
“Zahra is also on the varsity track and field team and has gained the accolade of being an Academic “All American” student athlete through a culmination of her athletic and academic achievements. Zahra notes one of her proudest achievements as a student-athlete as being on the 4×400 relay team that broke the school record in a single season. In addition to her accomplishments overseas, Zahra has also demonstrated a commitment to giving back to her local community, serving as a four-year volunteer at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
“We are proud to name Zahra as our 2021 recipient of the Robert Clements Scholarship. Zahra is an exceptional student and athlete with a clear desire to excel in all her endeavours. Over the past 25 years the Chubb Charitable Foundation – Bermuda, through the Robert Clements Scholarship and other discretionary awards, has invested approximately $3.2m in support of 34 Bermudians to help them prepare for professional careers in Bermuda’s insurance industry.
The fully funded four-year scholarship is open to Bermudians studying for an undergraduate or graduate degree in insurance, risk management, actuarial science or other disciplines related to the insurance industry including accounting, law, and economics. The scholarship offers students the opportunity to study for a degree without financial worry as well as employment opportunities during the holidays to provide them with relevant work experience.
Owenea Roberts Receives Bermuda College Education Award
“Owenea Roberts, a recent dual degree graduate from the Berkeley Institute and Bermuda College, has been selected as the 2021 Bermuda College Education Award recipient. Owenea is an incoming first year student at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, where she will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. While she was at Bermuda College as a dual enrolment student, Owenea obtained an Associates of Arts in Business Administration,” a spokesperson said.
“Owenea excelled in the dual enrolment program, maintaining Honors and High Honors while at The Berkeley Institute. At Bermuda College, she earned a place of the Vice President’s List.
“In addition to her academic achievements, Owenea is active in many extra-curricular activities, including basketball, knitting, and dance.”
Samantha Froud, Chief Administration Officer, Chubb Bermuda Operations, and a member of the Bermuda College Education Award selection committee said, “I am consistently impressed by the talent of the candidates for the Bermuda College Education Award. Owenea is an exemplar student and we are confident that she will continue to excel in the next chapter of her academic career. We are pleased to recognize and help support Owenea achieve her goals.”
The Bermuda College Education Award was launched in 2008 to provide $15,000 a year for two years to the successful Bermuda College graduate to assist them with the continuation of their undergraduate studies overseas. Since inception, the Chubb Charitable Foundation-Bermuda has invested more than $430,000 in financial support of 18 Bermudians to help them prepare them for a successful career.
Asia Atienza Receives Bursary Award from Chubb Charitable Foundation – Bermuda
“In recognition of the exceptional talent of one of our applicants, we are pleased to offer a Bursary Award through the Chubb Charitable Foundation – Bermuda, which will be granted for two academic years to Asia Atienza.” a spokesperson said.
“A 2018 graduate of the Berkeley Institute, Asia is currently studying Financial Economics at the University of Kent, working towards a career in Actuarial Science. Asia is the President of the Bermudian Society at the University of Kent, obtained First Class Honors for Mathematics during her first year, and currently serves as the Executive Vice President of NEXUS, a local non- profit organization that assists public high school students in their transition from high school to university.”
