Flooding In Store On Front Street, Hamilton
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a flooding at Calypso on Front Street in Hamilton .
A Government spokesperson said, “On July 8th 2021 at 10:35am the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service Dispatch received reports of flooding at Calypso #45 Front Street Hamilton. The calls came in as flooding to the rear of the store.
“BFRS responded with two appliances from the Hamilton Station and a total of six personnel.
“On arrival to Calypso fire crews reported seeing water overflowing into the store due to the drains not being able to handle the amount of water from the intense downpour. The Firefighters removed the water from the premises using submersible and light pumps.
“At 2:11pm fire dispatch received a report of smoke issuing from a BELCO Electrical Vault in front of A.S. Coopers on Front Street.
“BFRS responded with one appliance from the Hamilton Station and a total of 4 firefighters.
“On arrival fires crews found the BELCO Vault with smoke coming out caused by water from the rain entering the Vault making contact with electrical equipment. BFRS ensured the fire was extinguished and the water was removed before the issue was corrected by technicians from BELCO.”
