Lane Closure For Trench Works In St. George’s
The Ministry of Public Works advised that “BLDC’s trench work was postponed due to the oncoming Cup Match Holiday.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The trench works will commence from Tiger’s Bay pumping station at Penno’s Wharf and within two weeks enter Mullet Bay Road heading west to Rocky Hill Park in St. George’s. The trench work will be in the eastbound lane and possibly switch over to the westbound lane on Mullet Bay Road depending on existing underground utility lines.
“The lane closure will commence from Monday August 2nd, 2021 to Friday November 5th, 2021. Working hours will be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekly from Monday through Saturday. Trench work should reach 200 feet open section lengths at a time.
“All motorists are advised to avoid Penno’s Wharf parking area for the first two weeks starting August 2nd, 2021.
“Motorists, especially construction vehicles, buses and taxis are asked to use caution when passing the open trench since it may at times be near the center yellow line and can be quite deep.
“Traffic controls will be under the direction of Island Construction Services Ltd, representatives and will be managed through traffic control signs & signals.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.
“Should there be any questions regarding these works, please direct queries to the attention of Stephen Tucker, Project Manager for BLDC at 501-3010. Any queries on traffic control should be directed to Tina Beer-Searle, Civil Engineer, Highways Section for Ministry of Public Works on 501-3044.”
