MarketPlace Dance & Round Up For Charity

August 31, 2021

The MarketPlace today [Aug 31] announced the debut of its Jerusalema dance challenge video and offering of round ups for charity.

A spokesperson said, “In celebration of our associates for their hard work, they delightedly joined many others around the world in the Jerusalema Dance Challenge. Our teams allowed themselves a little work fun to celebrate during these pandemic times. As infection numbers continue to grow, they want to encourage the public to stay strong, mindful that we are all in this together, and as always, ‘You Can Count on Us!’

“We invite shoppers to round up their purchase total for the month of September to support charity. Through our partnership with Clarien Bank, shoppers will be able to give a big boost to two charities, The Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul Society, supporting those continued to be impacted by Covid-19.

“Funds raised will go directly to each charity equally and generously matched by Clarien Bank. The round up will run from 1 to 30 September and can be applied to any in-store transaction only, including cash, cheque, or card.

“The simultaneous video release and round up is aimed at celebrating our associates whilst encouraging the public to support those vulnerable in our community.”

Seth Stutzman, President of The MarketPlace, said: “I am so proud of our retail warriors. Throughout the pandemic they have truly been terrific. I could not be more thankful for their hard work and dedication, and it was great fun celebrating them than through dance.

“Everyone had such a good time taking part, having fun and dancing away. Our customers have always been so generous in helping us support great causes, and there’s never been a more important time as now to give a little to help support charity. We are grateful for our partnership with Clarien Bank and their generous offer to match funds raised.”

Major Robert Kerr, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army, said: “The Salvation Army is committed to serving those in our communities who are in need. As shoppers purchase their groceries, I encourage them to think of those who cannot afford to do the same and give in this very convenient manner. Your donation will allow us to Give Hope to someone in need. The Salvation Army greatly appreciates the support of The MarketPlace and Clarien and recognizes their willingness to be strong community partners.”

We encourage shoppers to consider how easy it is to help others, by simply rounding up at the register, when they are purchasing groceries during the month of September. Your donation will allow us to continue our outreach to the many people in need throughout the island.”

Michael DeCouto, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer for Clarien Bank said: “Clarien recently formalised a banking relationship with The MarketPlace. We are pleased to be able to support them as a vital service provider in our community with this charitable promotion. As we continue to transform as a financial services provider we will look to form meaningful partnerships with all clients including individuals, families, entrepreneurs, businesses and institutions.”
