Minister Visits Dr Cann Park Seniors Residence

The Minister of Social Development and Seniors Tinee Furbert recently visited Dr. Cann Park Seniors Residence Complex, the largest seniors residence complex for independent living in Bermuda.

Minister Furbert was joined by Mr. John Barritt, Bermuda Housing Trust Chairperson, and MP Ianthia Wade, the Ageing Well Chair.

Minister Furbert said, “Dr. Cann Park serves approximately 100 seniors, making it an extremely important pillar of stability for our senior population in Bermuda.

“With a growing senior population, and our work towards developing a National Seniors Strategy, this visit was an opportunity to discuss important factors such as:

  • Types of senior communities, housing infrastructure and design and the involvement of maintenance of the property
  • The needs of seniors in an independent living environment and;
  • Alternative housing solutions for seniors

Minister Furbert concluded, “Our Ministry is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of our seniors and we look forward to continuing to listen to the concerns of our seniors so that we can adequately address their needs.”

    I have always been totally puzzled as to how the steps in this complex are wooden…does it meet fire regulations. If there is a fire and the stairs go up, people are in serious trouble..they can’t use the lift

      That’s one of many problems lol the fire alarm goes off when it rains, it’s a complete joke

      It isn’t that high, they can just jump. They pretty much have nothing to lose at this point.
