‘Suspected 8 People Resulted In Being Too Low’

A vessel was towed to shore after taking on water in Mangrove Bay on August 1st, with officials saying “it was suspected that 8 people on a 19 ft boat had resulted in it being too low in the water and allowed water to enter the vessel.”

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Sunday 1st August, 2:45 pm – Aye Aye Captain called Bermuda Radio by cell phone to advise they were taking on water in Mangrove Bay with 8 POB, Bermuda Radio Broadcast a Pan-Pan message on VHF and the Coast Guard proceeded to the boats position, When the Coast Guard arrived on scene they found the people onboard were in the process of being transferred to another boat.

“Aye Aye Captain was towed to Boaz Island Gas Station. It was suspected that 8 people on a 19 ft boat had resulted in it being too low in the water and allowed water to enter the vessel.”
