168 New, 1547 Active, 58 In Hospital, 14 In ICU
The Ministry received 4074 test results – spanning two days — and 168 were positive, so there are now 1547 active cases, of which 58 people are in hospital, with 14 in ICU, and sadly the Ministry has confirmed two more deaths.
“Sadly, Bermuda has suffered two more coronavirus related deaths,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who recently lost a loved one to circumstances related to the coronavirus.”
“Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4074 test results, and 168 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 4.1%.
“These results are from testing done on:
- Sunday: 75 positive out of 1658 results [4.5% positivity]
- Monday: 93 positive out of 2416 results [3.8% positivity]
“20 of the new cases are classified as imported with history of travel in the previous 14 days.
“The additional 148 new cases are classified as either local transmission or remain under investigation.
“Additionally, since the last update, there have been 132 recoveries and two deaths.
“There are 1547 active cases, of which:
- 1489 are under public health monitoring and
- 58 are in hospital, with 14 in intensive care
“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 4800 confirmed coronavirus cases, out of which 3208 have recovered, and sadly 45 Covid related deaths.
“The source of all active cases is as follows:
- 89 are Imported
- 302 are classified as local transmission of which:
- 302 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
- 0 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
- 1156 are Under Investigation
“Active cases by vaccination status, transmission, and type:
- Imported cases: 97% are fully vaccinated, and 3% are not vaccinated
- Local/Under Investigation cases: 34% are fully vaccinated, and 65% are not vaccinated
- Variant typing is not available at this time due to the prioritisation of test results.
“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:
- 581 are Imported
- 2841 are classified as local transmission of which:
- 2298 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
- 543 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
- 1378 are Under Investigation
“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. For information regarding age distributions and overall transmission categories, please refer to https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-Covid19-update.
“The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 1.18. Bermuda’s current country status has been changed to Clusters of Cases. However, local data continues to indicate that Bermuda meets the criteria for Community Transmission. Community transmission is characterised by an increased incidence of locally acquired, widely dispersed cases, with many cases not linked to specific clusters.”

According to the Premier, there is a reluctance in the black community to get vaccinated. The vast majority of people in hospital and intensive care are not vaccinated. One could work out that most of those in hospital are non vaccinated and black. Sad that such a segment of the population is the greatest risk
2 more deaths that didn’t need to happen. How many more deaths before the unvaccinated get their jabs? More I fear and that’s just sad!!!
Please get vaccinated. Vaccinated is safety.
If you are in ICU, a nurse told me that they are desperate for breath, but each time they do breathe its like gargling with engine oil, its a terrible way to go.
“Sadly, Bermuda has suffered two more coronavirus related deaths”
Yes, it is sad. But not unexpected. It is a result of our policy of preferring money over lives and not following the rules we have.
Only the strong will survive
Well said
Why would someone want to risk leaving this precious earth and their loved ones instead of taking a FDA approved vaccine that could prevent you from getting very sick or dying. I just don’t get it. It’s just so very sad to hear about all these preventable deaths.
Letting the virus into our country and letting it run rampant around our country was much more preventable. Bermuda had zero new cases in early July!
It’s not okay to intentionally expose people to a virus and then try to make them feel bad for not taking a brand new vaccine, which is not yet approved for children under 12 by the way, unlike other vaccines!
More unhinged anti-vax nonsense. It never gets old?
Kind of like the unvaccinated.
Are you, by chance, a flat earther or moon-landing denier? Because that’s the level you are at.
There are many vaccines that cannot be given to young children and some that are given in smaller doses. The testing for younger children is underway and as for all other vaccines, testing is carried out first on healthy adults, before those groups with less resistance.
I don’t think most people are trying to make unvaccinated people feel bad, rather they cannot understand the failure of so many people to evaluate the relative risks of each choice, ask their doctor for advice and then make their choice.
Also why so many ignore the main teaching and world leading hospitals-which they unfailingly trust for all major surgeries and medical treatments, and rather accept marginal ‘doctors’ or quasi scientists, many of whom quote discredited scientific papers and un-factual ‘facts’ which a quick google or fact-check will be shown to be completely false!
The mind boggles, when the alternative is a disease that can be incredibly painful, cause long lasting serious health complications and in quite a few local cases, lead to a painful and untimely death. It is also causing the entire community a more lengthy and painful path through the pandemic.
