Senate Passes Bill To Create Flora Duffy Day
The Bill to create a public holiday on October 18th to honour Bermuda’s first Olympic gold medalist Flora Duffy has passed in the Senate, which follows after it passed in the House, with the Bill passing both chambers with unanimous support from PLP, OBA and Independent members.
Flora Duffy – who claimed yet another victory on Saturday [Sept 25] in California — is a 10 time world champion, the first triathlete in history to be crowned both the World and Olympic Champion in the same year, and Bermuda’s first ever Olympic Gold Medalist, with her win making the island the smallest country in the world to win a gold medal at the Summer Olympics.
