Beyond Plastic Bermuda Webinar On Oct 27
Beyond Plastic Bermuda will be hosting a free webinar on Wednesday, October 27th, to “provide information to the community regarding the Government’s intention to restrict the import of certain single-use plastic items.”
A spokesperson said, “Beyond Plastic Bermuda will be hosting a free webinar on October 27th, from 6pm to 7pm, on ‘The Problem with Plastics’. Presenting will be Katie Berry, Executive Director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful and local environmentalist Erich Hetzel, of Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce. The webinar will present information regarding four areas that plastic pollution has the greatest impact on our lives and the world in general.
“This webinar is being provided free to the public in support of Beyond Plastic Bermuda’s efforts to provide information to the community regarding the Government’s intention to restrict the import of certain single-use plastic items.”
Erich Hetzel explained. ‘It is important that the community understands the issues surrounding plastic and plastic waste. The plastics issue is about far more than litter and its danger to sea life.
“Those are important issues, but this is also about climate change, environmental justice and human health. We would hope that once the public understands the depth of the issues, that they will support the Government’s initiative to limit the imports of many single-use plastic items.’
Katie Berry added, ‘’It is indisputable that the world needs less single-use plastic. The question becomes how we do this in Bermuda. I hope you will join Erich and I and learn about why we need to embrace sustainability and reduce single-use plastic. We want to hear from you so we can figure out how to best do this in Bermuda, so please join us after the webinar for a panel discussion, and let us know your ideas and thoughts.’
