Daniel Augustus Wins Championship In Florida
Daniel Augustus has won the 2021 IGTA Players Championship at the Champions Gate Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
Augustus shot a two-round total 141 to win by 1-stroke over Felix Rivera. Augustus shot a first round 67, before shooting a second round 68.
Following his performance, Augustus said, “Winning is great, I have to remain grounded and not lose sight of my objectives. I’m happy but I know this is just another stepping stone and not the destination.
“The event itself was an experience, I shot even on the front both days with some interesting bogeys, and the back 9 a switch came on both days. I had 6 birdies the first day on the back 9 and 4 the second round on the back. a total of 14 birdies in two rounds are signs of me scoring better as well as consistency.
“I still have work to do. The 5 bogeys I made were all avoidable in a sense of course management. Bad swings happen but when you miss manage yourself that’s fixable.
“It’s my first time playing on this tour, there were a few shots which was disappointing but the course is extremely difficult.
“But to finish -9 on the international course at champions gate is solid golfing. So I’m happy.”
