Golf: Sims & Smith Lead Local Qualifier
Michael Sims and Camiko Smith co-lead after posting 1-over par 72 following the first round of the 2021 local qualifier at Port Royal Golf Course.
A spokesperson said, “Michael Sims and Camiko Smith co-lead after posting 1-over par 72 following the first round of the 2021 local qualifier at Port Royal Golf Course. The two-day event boasts a field of twenty-three Bermudians competing for four spots representing their country in the third annual Butterfield Bermuda Championship, October 25 to 31 at Port Royal.
“A brisk southwesterly wind made for challenging conditions. Amateur Will Haddrell [+5] finished solo third, four shots behind the leaders with a score of 76 and Chaka DeSilva [+6] is solo fourth with a score of 77. Nine players are at 80 or lower and remain in contention with a low round on Wednesday.
“Live results are available through the Golf Genius App and entering the GGID: BCQ2021.
“The final round starts Wednesday with tee times commencing at 8:00 a.m.
