Join The Green Canopy Tree Planting Initiative

Government House announced an opportunity to join the Governor and her family at Government House on November 6th to participate in the Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting initiative.

Government House posted the graphic below on social media, saying: “In celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, Government House is pleased to announce a unique opportunity to join the Governor and her family at Government House on Saturday, 6 November to participate in the Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting initiative.

“Thanks to a generous donation of 12 trees from the Bermuda Botanical Society’s Government House is on its way to achieving our goal of planting 70 trees to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years of service.

“If you are interested in donating any native/endemic plants to be included in the Queen’s Green Canopy Programme or are interested in volunteering your time to assist in the planting of the trees, please contact the Social Secretary at govhsesocialsec@gov.bm. Please also note that numbers will be determined by the current health and safety guidelines in place at the time of planting.”

Governor Rena Lalgie said, “Government House famously has trees planted by Her Majesty The Queen and prominent international and local figures. I would like to offer this opportunity to welcome volunteers of all ages to join my family and I in creating a new native and endemic canopy at Government House beginning preparations to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.”
