Police On Proposed Curfew Protest Motorcade

December 23, 2021

Noting they are aware of a post circulating on social media inviting people to attend a motorcade starting at 12.31am on Friday to protest the curfew, the police said that while they support peaceful protest the “hope is that residents will comply with the new regulations.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service, [BPS] is aware of a post circulating on social media message, inviting members of the community to attend a motorcade starting at 12:31 a.m. on Friday 24th December, 2021, to protest the implementation of new curfew regulations.

Antoine Daniels, Assistant Commissioner of Police, stated: “The BPS supports peaceful protest and is attempting to get in contact with the organisers, to discuss with them adherence to the current COVID regulations as they pertain to the curfew.

“While the hope is that residents will comply with the new regulations, rather than them having to be enforced, persons are reminded, anyone found in breach of curfew will be ticketed and face a fine of up to $500.00.”

The new regulations came into effect at 6am today, and a curfew will be in effect every night from 12.30 am – 5.00 am until 20 January 2022.

“… anyone found in breach of curfew will be ticketed and face a fine of up to $500.00″.

The question is, will they face a fine of up to $500.00? Or is that just something to say?

  2. nothin makes sense says:

Nobody is going to do a damn thing. Remember the last time this happen? The only people that showed up at the cabinet building to protest curfew was the police and a cameraman. lmao! Bermudians are soft like cloth, all bark no bite.

  3. Southampton says:

Are these people stupid? Grow up protesters. Take the medicine and obey the curfew. Most likely many of the protesters are the ones who broke curfew before. Total idiots

  4. Stop the Silly says:

Do these selfish individuals not remember what happened approximatly two weeks adter the last time they had one of these protests!

At least two of their supporters are no longer with us. Slow learners I guess.

  7. Sy says:

Govt was very late to advise the people of the curfew. People have already made plans and now they want the people to cancel their normal activities to accommodate cancel culture. I ask the question is this about COVID or CONTROL?
Just because UK did it doesn’t mean we have to also.
Government needs to stop and also stop using the police against the people.
People are not stupid and they see what’s going on.

  8. Kim Smith says:

What is going on? Are you talking about most people trying to live their lives while taking certain precautions to try to limit the spread of a pandemic we continue to learn about and manage to protect the especially vulnerable in our community?

  9. Maddog says:

What’s going on should be a long weekend in the lock up for the protesters….enjoy that and your KFC instead of Christmas dinner…big babies all of you wah wah so you have to change a few plans …life is so hard for you isn’t it?
