Premier, First Division Results, Schedule Change
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were recently in action, with Dandy Town Hornets, BAA, and Social Club all earning wins, while one match ended in a draw, and the BFA announced two changes in the schedule for upcoming matches.
Premier Division
Robin Hood 1 – Dandy Town Hornets 2
The Premier Division League leaders Dandy Town Hornets got a late winner to see off a spirited Robin Hood team 2 – 1.
After a scoreless first half, the Dandy Town Hornets took the lead when Nizigh Spence scored, but minutes later Robin Hood player/coach Dante Leverock equalized.
Robin Hood were minutes away from being only the second team this season to take a point off the leaders, but Terrance Webb found the back of the net to give the Dandy Town Hornets all three points.
Somerset Eagles 3 – Devonshire Colts 3
At the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Eagles and the Devonshire Colts battled it out in a six goal thriller.
The Devonshire Colts held a 2 – 0 lead at the break, but a spirited Somerset Eagles team came roaring back to draw 3 – 3.
Goals from Brandon O’Conner in the 14th minute and Shaki Swan in the 28th minute gave the Devonshire Colts a 2 – 0 lead.
Somerset Eagles pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when Ethan Fubler scored; three minutes later the score was leveled when Rayquan Woodley-Smith scored.
Devonshire Colts once again took the lead in the 74th minute when Jaquari Paynter scored, but in the 88th minute Shakir Smith got the all-important equalizer, earning the team a share of the spoils.
First Division
BAA 4 – Paget Lions 1
At the BAA Field, the home team moved into second place on goal difference after they defeated the Paget Lions 4 – 1. BAA took the lead in the fourth minute when Riley Robinson scored the only goal of the first half.
BAA took a 2 – 0 lead in the 60th minute when Hunter Outerbridge scored. Three minutes later it was 3 – 0 when Victor Capitillo scored, but in the 66th minute Paget got on the board when Jelani Simmons scored. Caleb McDowell restored the BAA three goal lead in the 75th minute.
Ireland Rangers 1 – Social Club 3
At the Somerset Cricket Club, visiting Young Men Social Club are in third on goal difference after they defeated Ireland Rangers 3 – 1.
Young Men Social Club went ahead in the third minute through an own goal, but on the stroke of half time Ireland Rangers drew level when Jonathan Bean scored.
Just when it looked as if Ireland Rangers had done enough to secure a point, Ryan Parris scored for Social Club in the 89th minute. Social Club added a third in stoppage time with Shaki Pearman scoring.
Schedule Change
The Bermuda Football Association have announced the Premier Division match postponed from Sunday, December 19th featuring the St. George’s Colts and the Somerset Trojans has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 5th at 8:00 pm at Somerset Cricket Club: note this will be Somerset’s home match.
The Premier Division match between the Somerset Trojans and the St. George’s Colts on Saturday, January 15th has been switched to the Wellington Oval, commencing at 3:00 pm.
