Andrew Trott-Francis Awarded New Golf Bursary

Andrew Trott-Francis is the first recipient of a new bursary set up by the Bermuda Professional Golfers Association through the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, which aims to assist members in their education and career advancement in the golf industry.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Professional Golfers Association is excited to announce, through the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, a Bursary has been set up to assist the BPGA and their current and prospect members in the continuing education and career advancement in the Golf industry.

“This year’s recipient is local golf professional Andrew Trott-Francis who has been employed at the Port Royal Golf Course. Andrew began playing golf and working on his game back in 2012 after college when he started working part time at the Port Royal Golf Course. His love of the game has continued to grow over time and he was approved as a registered apprentice in the BPGA.

“Andrew has been accepted and will attend the Florida Gulf Coast University to study in their PGM course in 2022. The Bermuda PGA is dedicated to the continued education and advancement of our members to be golf industry leaders in Bermuda and on the global stage. We are very excited with this new Bursary and relationship with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Port Royal Acting General Manager Steven Lambert said “On behalf of the Government Golf Courses; We are proud of Andrew and his tireless work for the past five years as a Budding Golf Professional. Mr. Trott-Francis, good luck obtaining your PGM Degree in the New Year.”

Charles H. Jeffers II, Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority said, “The Butterfield Bermuda Championship continues to make a positive impact in Bermuda beyond tourism.

“We are delighted to be a part of a programme that enhances the depth of Bermuda’s professional sport talent and supports our community with opportunities such as this. We wish Mr. Trott-Francis all the best as he pursues the PGA Golf Management accreditation.”
